ODOS C overview

ODOS C (CONSTRUCTION) automates as-built cross-sections handling for corridor type facilities (rail lines, airfield runways / taxiways, channels, etc.) construction.

A customizable materials library (e.g. stripping, unsuitable material, barriers, paving materials, base, sub-base materials, gravel fill, concrete, etc.) covering all the project's pay items can be defined and maintained by the user. ODOS C provides the user with the CONSTRUCTION ORGANIZER, a Code Table associating lengths and areas measured for each project phase with customisable pay-items.

Horizontal alignment can be created or modified in ODOS C using simple numerical input and on-screen graphical editing.

Project phases can be imported in the system by several methods. As surface cross-sections by surface models interpolation, by numerical input, or by automatic collecting of random spot elevations based on cross-sections directions. ODOS C introduces direct DWG files reading with automatic recognition of any 3d elements (lines, polylines, 3dfaces, etc.). The exact picture of the DWG file is instantly presented by ODOS C, as plan background. ODOS C can fully handle the DWG layers using its own simple controller. During DWG reading, ODOS C automatically updates a digital surface model database by all the 3d elements found in the DWG file. Thus, after reading DWG file is completed, ODOS C can directly interpolate all 3d elements existing in the file, allowing rapid surface profiles / cross-sections interpolations. In every day use this means that ODOS C can directly interpolate DWG files with TIN triangles (3d faces calculated and created by any software), digitized contours, or any combination of those. This feature makes ODOS C a trully open construction application software, free of any conversions, special surface formats, special software use or any other user restrictions.

ODOS C provides a complete set of cross-section editing tools that allow cross-section links to be graphically modified, extended, trimmed, offset etc. to reflect the true state of the construction stage. Closed areas are automatically defined and calculated, according to the "history" of the project as it is imported in the CONSTRUCTION ORGANIZER (any project phase surface cross-section can be merged automatically with existing terrain cross-section / earlier construction phase cross-section / proposed design cross-section to generate intermediate surface quantities and progress payment tabulations).

ODOS 7 proposed design cross-sections can be automatically imported in ODOS C, viewed and measured simultaneously with as-built cross-sections at the same stations, revealing any possible discrepancies between proposed and field conditions.

ODOS C automatically generates a user defined volumes and areas report, based on calculated cross-sections, using the average end area method for all the materials found in the project. This report is real-time refreshed by the system after any cross-section editing, allowing the user to instantly view and control consequent changes in partial and total pay-item quantities.

Quantities Reports produced by ODOS C can be exported in user definable tables in any format (text files, MS-Excel spreadsheets, etc.)

ODOS C produces automatically fully annotated as-built cross-section drawings. ODOS SOFTWARE Ltd. as a member of Open Design Alliance has incorporated OpenDWG technology in all its software products since 2003. ODOS C introduces direct DWG files stand-alone exporting, limiting additional CAD usage to simple plotting commands. Light cheap CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD LT, IntelliCAD) is now more than enough for the plotting work required for the completion of the design drawings made by ODOS C. Any DWG compatible CAD software (e.g. Microstation) can also be directly used for any CAD processing.
